Oh, the echium? They're pretty drought-tolerant but are biennial (leaves the first year, flowers the second) and a bit marginal for Sacramento. Worth a shot, though, I'd say.
I remember Pat Rubin of the Bee writing about growing them successfully in our area. I have a young echium that I bought at Annie's Annuals a few months ago. We'll see how it does... It's certainly not a plant you see all over Sacramento. Too hot in summer, too cold in winter here probably. It sure is happy in Mendocino, though!
