Sacramento City Cemetery garden featured in the San Francisco Chronicle

Great piece on Hamilton Square and Sharon Patrician in the Chronicle!

Garden blooms where dead lie in Sacramento
A pioneer cemetery tended by dedicated volunteers is also a nursery for native bees

  1. Hi, my friends and I are roadtripping to Sacramento tomorrow to visit the Old City Cemetery. I'm looking at the place on Google maps, and I'm wondering where we'll park. Any suggestions about parking? :)

It looks like there's no parking in the cemetery itself or on Broadway or Riverside. I see cars parked on 10th Street, and the side streets. I guess that would work...

Would you happen to have any suggestions for lunch in that part of town?

My aunt used to have an old Victorian at 27th and S. I spent a lot of time with her and knew downtown Sacramento really well. Now, not so much.

I'll come back to check if you have a reply, or if you want to e-mail it to me directly my address is lcbii at yahoo. Thank you!

  2. Hi Chuck, there are a few parking space inside the cemetery when you enter on Broadway. I've never had to park on the street. If you do for some reason, you should be able to find street parking around the perimeter.

As for lunch, you will be a short drive from Tower Cafe.

See Yelp Sacramento for other lunch options if you're in the mood for something different.

    Hope you enjoy the cemetery!
