Just learned about a cool program through City of Roseville, CA called the Cash for Grass Rebate Pilot Program. If you live in Roseville and want some extra incentive to lose the lawn, check it out!
Great program, thanks for posting about this. I sent the info on to a friend who is working on sustainability with an East Bay city. Wish they offered this in Nevada County.
That's really cool - I wish they'd do that here in Humboldt County! I have a lot of lawn just waiting for an excuse to replace it with fruiting plants.
Here in Santa Rosa we have had that program for some time. I have never had a lawn at this house, but last summer my neighbor pulled her lawn and was paid for doing so.
I am the media rep for the department in the City of Roseville that manages the Cash for Grass Program. I was involved in helping get the program off the ground last year. If you want to do more on the program successes from last year, before and after and what's in store for this year, let me know and I'd be happy to get you more information. Its a great program and I am really proud to be part of it. More cities and water agencies in this region are modeling our program, so its likely to catch on in the Sacramento area.
I am waiting for the city of Folsom to do the same! I have a large chunk remaining to tear out, but not the financial resources!
ReplyDeleteGood to see you online. :0)
